Papua New Guinean nabbed for punching bar staff, cop
CEBU, Philippines - An allegedly drunk Papua New Guinean was arrested after he punched a bar employee and a police officer inside a bar in General Maxilom Avenue, Barangay Kamputhaw, Cebu City Saturday.
Arrested was Garry Nigel Chrich, 21, a temporary resident in a subdivision in Barangay Pajac, Lapu-Lapu City and a native of Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea.
Based on the report, Chrich was drinking with a friend inside one of the VIP rooms of J. Avenue bar when he went out to get something.
Allegedly, the foreigner suddenly punched the face of Leonardo Matañosa, the bar’s stock man, who was standing nearby.
Personnel of Fuente Police responded to the place and tried to subdue the suspect.
However, Chrich tried to resist arrest and even punched the neck of one of the arresting officers, Police Officer 2 Florencio Cabanlit.
The Papua New Guinean was eventually subdued and was brought to the police station for proper disposition.
He was also taken to Cebu City Medical Center for a liquor test. The hospital later issued a medical certificate that showed that the Papua New Guinean was positive for alcohol.
Chrich, who currently studies in a university in Cebu City, will face charges for physical injury and direct assault. (FREEMAN)
