Man shot dead over ‘love rivalry’
CEBU, Philippines - A tattoo artist was gunned down by a man allegedly over love rivalry in Barangay Buhisan, Cebu City Saturday night.
Andrew Tabaque, 33, succumbed to two gunshot wounds to the shoulder while suspect John Jay Abella, of Barangay Punta Princesa escaped with the gun.
Investigation showed that Tabaque was playing billiards at 10 pm last Saturday when Abella arrived and confronted him if he was having a relationship with his live-in partner.
The confrontation turned into a fistfight between the two prompting other people in the area to stop them, but they soon ran when the suspect pulled a firearm from his waistline.
The suspect shot the victim twice, hitting his shoulders where the bullets got stuck.
The victim was brought to Cebu City Medical Center but he died on the way there.
The suspect fled on foot and escaped from responding policemen.
Senior Police Officer 4 Alex Dacua of Homicide Section believed that the suspect used a revolver in shooting the victim. They did not find any empty shell from the crime scene.
Dacua said the motive behind the incident is apparently love rivalry.
Meanwhile, a decomposing body of a man was found inside a cave in Barangay Don Andres Soriano, Toledo City Friday morning.
As per investigation, one Andy Padilla was cutting grasses inside a farm when he smelled something unpleasant.
He checked where the foul odor was coming from and to his surprise, discovered a dead person inside an isolated cave. He then sought for help.
Police officers recovered a cal. 38 revolver with an empty shell inside the cylinder near the body.
The man was estimated to be around 40-50 years old, 5’8” tall and with medium build. He was wearing white long sleeves, jeans, gray shoes, white ball cap, and sun glasses.
The body was subjected to an autopsy to determine the cause of his death and his identity. (FREEMAN)
