Man arrested during roadside check

CEBU, Philippines -  A 29-year-old man was arrested for possession of illegal drugs last Friday across a jeepney terminal in Juan Luna Extension, Cebu City.

Jeffrey Lipon Pugado was apprehended by Police Officer 3 Rodel Abejuela and Police Officer1 Rayme Veraque of Mabolo Police Station during a centralized checkpoint around 12:50 p.m.

Abejuela said they ordered Pugado to stop his motorcycle for inspection but the suspect allegedly attempted to escape, prompting Veraque to block his way.

“Ni-action pa gyud siya nga di magpa-check. Napugos siya og hunong,” Veraque said.

When Abejuela got hold of Pugado’s license, they found a plastic sachet containing white crystalline substance believed to be shabu and two strips of tin foil inserted in his license holder.

Pugado reportedly asked for forgiveness when the items were found but did not resist arrest. 

Pugado is detained temporarily at the Mabolo Police Station. He will face charges for violation of the Republic Act 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act.  (FREEMAN)
