Rerouting tomorrow to affect 5 barangays
CEBU, Philippines - Five barangays in Cebu City will be affected by the temporary closure of roads tomorrow, September 9, to pave way for a procession in line with the annual feast of San Nicolas de Tolentino.
These include Barangays Sawang Calero, Suba, Pahina San Nicolas, San Nicolas Proper and Duljo Fatima.
City Traffic Operations Management operations chief Joy Tumulak said the following roads will be closed for at least five hours from 3 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.:
1)Tupas Street/ Spolarium St. from A. Borres St. to C. Padilla street
2)Carlock St. from B. Aranas St. to Spolarium St.
3)C. Padilla St. from Tres de Abril St. to Spolarium St.
4)B. Aranas St. from T. Abella St. to Carlock St.
5)T. Abella St., from B. Aranas to Tupas St.
6)Lakandula St., from B. Aranas St. to Tupas St.
Public utility vehicles traversing along V. Rama Extension coming from Barangays Lahug, Guadalupe and Banawa are advised to turn left to Tres de Abril St., turn right to Lakandula St., turn left to B. Ararnas St., turn right to Tres de Abril St., turn left to C. Padilla St., then proceed to their usual route in going to Carbon Area and to their point of destination.
Meanwhile, jeepneys from Labangon traversing Tres de Abril St. shall turn left to N. Bacalso Avenue and turn right to Leon Kilat St. before taking their usual route.
Vehicles coming from Alumnos, Pardo, Bulacao and Inayawan that traverse C. Padilla St., while passing along Tagunol road, shall turn left to N. Bacalaso Ext., right turn to N. Bacalso Ave, beside Mambaling floyover, right turn to Leon Kilat St./Junquera St., then to their usual route in going to their destination.
PUJs coming from downtown area or Carbon area that traverse C. Padilla and Tupas Streets in going to their point of origin will also be rerouted. Those travelling along Colon St./Magallanes St. shall proceed to Borromeo St., turn left to Sanciangko St., then go straight to Tres de Abril St.. They may also turn right to Panganiban St., turn left to N. Bacalso Ave., then to their point of origin.
Tumulak warned that those along the five-kilometer procession route will be affected.
“I-close kay gamay ang dalan para safety ang mu-attend sa procession. Adunay 14 Caro aron di kaayo ma-affected ang traffic. Ang route different from last year kay nagmahay ang uban nga kapilya wa naapil sa route,” he said.
He also warned of traffic congestion along N. Bacalso and the South Road Properties coastal road.
Twenty traffic enforcers will be deployed to the affected route.
Motorists, drivers and riding public are advised to follow the traffic signs at the re-routing area to avoid being trapped in traffic. (FREEMAN)
