Toledo City worker shot; masseur stabs neighbor

CEBU, Philippines - A job order employee of Toledo City government landed in the hospital after three unidentified motorcycle-riding men shot him in Luray 1, Barangay Poblacion Friday evening.

Jerome Gara, a park attendant, sustained gunshot wound in his shoulder and is now confined at a hospital in Cebu City.

Senior Police Officer 3 Basiliso Balicoco said the victim came from the terminal and was onboard a trisikad on his way to the plaza when the unidentified gunmen fired at him.

Gara managed to run to ask help from the Toledo City Traffic Division despite being wounded. He was immediately brought to Toledo City hospital but was transferred in Cebu City.

Balicoco said investigators recovered four empty shells of  .45 cal. pistol at the crime scene.

Meanwhile, a masseur has surrendered to the police after stabbing his neighbor in Barangay Lahug Friday evening. Hargie Ombos, 45, also surrendered to Mabolo Police Station an 11-inch knife he used to stab Dennis Sanchez, 31.

The victim sustained stab wounds in the body and in the left arm and is now confined at a private hospital. Homicide investigators believe that personal grudge could be the motive behind the stabbing incident.

Sanchez came from an Internet café when the suspect attacked him without any provocation.  (FREEMAN)
