Cebu City execs to showcase SRP
CEBU, Philippines - With the aim of attracting more investors, Cebu City will be showcasing its business climate at the 18th China International Fair for Investment and Trade (CIFIT).
City officials led by Vice Mayor Edgar Labella will fly to Xiamen, China today for the three-day event, which will take place from September 8 to 11.
CIFIT and the International Forum for Friendship Cities (IFFC) organized by China’s Ministry of Commerce will be staged at the Xiamen International Conference and Exhibition Center.
“I will represent Cebu City in the round table discussion with Asian cities bringing what the City of Cebu has,” Labella said.
Among those he will highlight are investment opportunities at the South Road Properties.
Labella will be accompanied by Councilors David Tumulak, Nendell Hanz Abella, Roberto Cabarrubias, Gerardo Carillo, and Noel Eleuterio Wenceslao.
The city’s public information officer, Elmer Labella, will also be with the group.
In the invitation sent to the city government, Xiamen City Mayor Liu Keqing said CIFIT is
the only investment event certified by the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry and is the largest of its kind in the world.
“It aims to enhance the substantial exchanges and cooperation among friendship cities of China in areas of economy, trade, science, education, culture, health, environmental, protection and tourism,” Keqing said.
Keqing said the event also aims to promote all-round cooperation among the international friendship cities.
With the theme “Seeking cooperation and development among international friendship cities in the new media era”, the forum will also be held during the CIFIT event to provide a platform for Chinese cities and their international friendship cities to deepen understanding, build consensus, and enhance win-win partnership in the area.
CIFIT’s major components include investment and trade exhibition, the International Investment Forum (IIF), a series of seminars on hot investment issues, and investment project matchmaking symposia.
Labella said that the event is a good venue in exploring the developments in international market in the trade exhibition in foreign countries. He said they paying for the travel themselves and no government funds were involved. — /JMO (FREEMAN)
