3 Persons tagged in Alcoy shooting

Bryner L. Diaz - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - Three persons could be possible suspects in the killing of two men in Barangay Nug-as, Alcoy Wednesday morning, said the new town police chief, Inspector Rogene Fudotan.

Fudotan, who just assumed as the new police chief of Alcoy on Monday, replacing Inspector Crisanto Abella who was killed recently, said they have identified the persons who possibly shot to death victims Deones Allosa, 32, of Barangay Nangka, Boljoon town and Romulo Atienza, 54, of Barangay Quiot, Cebu City.

According to Fudotan, one of the suspects has standing warrants of arrest for illegal drugs and robbery and is said to be a gun-for-hire.

The police chief, who refused to divulge the names of the suspects, said the suspects belong to a group that is not that organized yet. The group might also be engaged in gun-for-hire activities, which the police are also checking.

Fudotan further said that this group of people was the same group Abella and his murderer, Ciriaco delos Santos, Jr., allegedly argued with before the latter killed the police official last August 24.

Allosa, a farmer, was reportedly at a local fair locally known as “tabu” in Barangay Nug-as trying to unload vegetables from the truck when he was shot in the head by a man who was wearing a bonnet.

The victim died on the spot while the suspect casually walked towards the direction of Atienza some 30 meters away and also shot the latter to the head.

Atienza died immediately while the suspect fled from the place.

Fudotan said they are verifying rumors that Allosa was shot in suspicion that he was a police asset as he allegedly talks with policemen whenever he goes to the tabo.

The police chief further said that investigation is ongoing and that they will do everything to arrest the assailants.  (FREEMAN)
