Couple, son hurt in ambush
CEBU, Philippines - A couple and their son were injured after they were shot at several times by their 17-year-old neighbor in Barangay Pulpogan, Consolacion yesterday morning.
Spouses Eduardo and Filomena Quimod, 58, and their son Jeffrey, 37, were immediately brought to Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center because of gunshot wounds.
Eduardo was hit in his left thigh, Filomina was in her right arm, while Jeffrey sustained injury in his left arm. All of them are now out of danger.
The victims were on their way home when the minor suspect fired at them using a caliber .45 pistol. A hot pursuit operation conducted by the members of the Consolacion police failed to locate the suspect.
Sr. Insp. Rodolfo Oriol, Consolacion police chief, said that they are looking at family feud as possible motive behind the crime. According to Oriol, the victims and the family of the suspect had long been harboring grudges against each other.
The suspect allegedly blamed the victims in the arrest of his father for illegal possession of firearm.
“Ang amahan sa suspek gi-filan og kaso napriso tungod sa pagdala og armas,” Oriol said.
“Nag-away ang pamilya nila, nagsugod ra ni sa padungog-dungog hangtod nga nahitabo ni’ng pagpamusil,” Oriol added.
Oriol said they have already prepared the affidavits for filing of the criminal complaint against the suspect. (FREEMAN)
