Guards to face ‘one strike’ termination

Claire Tano - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines -  The newly-deployed security guards at the Cebu Provincial Capitol will face “one strike” termination should they violate the rules and regulations, the head of the Civil Security Unit warned.

CSU head Loy Madrigal distributed to the guards from two winning bidders, GDS Security Agency and Tactical Security Inc., copies of the policy and the corresponding penalties approved by the provincial government.

“One strike, wala nay hangyo. Mostly sa mga violations, one strike termination,” Madrigal pointed out.

Some of the security personnel, he said, were given reconsideration such as their age and educational background.

“Violation includes being hubog, accidentally discharge of firearm, influence of prohibited drugs and daghan pa,” said Madrigal.

Every violation, he said, will be deducted from the guard’s salary amounting to P500 to P1,000 per day and termination of the guard’s service upon receipt of the written notice from the client.

As for the miscellaneous, the following deductions from a guard’s billing will be followed:  P250 for the first offense; P500 for the second offense; P1,000 for the third offense; and for the fourth offense, termination of service of the guard.

Madrigal said CSU members will also help check on security guards who violate the policies.

As per his assessment, Madrigal said the deployment of the security guards on their first day of duty yesterday was so far good. The guards were assigned to different areas at the Capitol. —/NSA (FREEMAN)
