GDS, Tactical awarded contract to share Capitol security duties
CEBU, Philippines - GDS and Tactical Security Agency Inc. will start securing Cebu provincial government properties starting tomorrow.
The two security agencies, which won the public bidding last July to be the ones to provide security to the Capitol, are now ready to deploy their security personnel.
Cebu Governor Hilario Davide III signed the respective contract for security services of the two agencies last Monday.
To make this possible, the Bids and Awards Committee divided the area that needs to be guarded and assigned both GDS and Tactical.
The Capitol needs 111 security personnel from Tactical to secure what Capitol identified as area 1, which covers north of Cebu and Cebu City; while 91 GDS guards will cover area 2, including south of Cebu and Cebu City.
Earlier, jail guards were suspected of involvement in the smuggling of illegal drugs at the Cebu Provincial Detention Rehabilitation Center, as reported by Jail Warden Romeo Manansala.
Davide said five Capitol guards will replace the CPDRC jail guards, who are currently under investigation and would likely be reassigned.
Civil Security Unit Chief Loy Magdrigal said GDS security guards were selected for deployment at CPDRC following Manansala’s request. —(FREEMAN)
