Couple nabbed for P400T shabu
CEBU, Philippines- Police arrested a couple who were seized with four large packs of shabu worth P400,000 in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Carreta, Cebu City on Monday afternoon.
Operatives of the City Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Task Force (CAIDSOTF) arrested Nanie Saballa, 42, and her husband Jerome Saballa, 40, who are residents of Barangay Guadalupe.
Nanie handed a pack of shabu worth P1,000 to a police decoy and was arrested including her husband. Four large packs of suspected shabu were recovered from their possession.
The items are now in the custody of the Philippine National Police Crime Laboratory-7 in Camp Sotero Cabahug for chemical analysis.
CAIDSOTF chief, Senior Inspector Eunil Avergonzado said they placed the couple under two-week surveillance to confirm their illegal activities before they carried out the operation at 2 p.m. last Monday.
The couple, who refused to comment on their arrest, can reportedly dispose over 200 grams of shabu in a week, making them level two drug pushers.
“Dagko ni silang duwa, dugay na kaayo ta ani nila nangita,” Avergonzado said.
The suspects are now detained at the Mabolo Police Station pending the filing of charges for violation of Section 5 of Republic Act 9165 or the Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. —/NSA) (FREEMAN)
