Scavenger stabbed dead in Cebu City

CEBU, Philippines - A  scavanger died after he was stabbed twice by another man who was drinking in the same store he was getting a drink.

The incident happened in Barangay Lorega San Miguel, Cebu City yesterday morning.

The victim, Victoriano Miano Jr., 50, a native of Cordova town, was rushed to the hospital but did not make it there alive.

Investigation revealed that the suspect, Artemio Prak, 60, was drinking at the same time with the Miano when he suddenly stabbed the latter in the chest and left side of the body.   Prak left the scene on foot hurriedly but was caught later by tanods Rodolfo Mabag, Edgardo Briones and Ramil Lingganay just a few meters from the crime scene.

The knife recovered from the suspect is believed to be the same weapon used to stab Miano.

Reasons for the crime remain unknown as Miano remains mum. He is detained at the Cebu City Police Office while awaiting the filing of charges against him.  (FREEMAN)
