Agro-Fair at Capitol kicks off, many join
CEBU, Philippines - Cebu Provincial Capitol’s Agro Trade Fair will kick off today as part of the month-long celebration for the province’s 445th founding anniversary.
A total of 37 private exhibitors and 41 local government units in the province have confirmed to participate in the event, including some typhoon-hit areas in northern Cebu like the towns of Pilar and Poro in Camotes Islands, Borbon, Bantayan, and Tuburan.
Provincial Agriculturist Roldan Saragena said the event will showcase the pride products of the respective LGUs. The event also aims to invite prospective buyers, he said.
Prizes await the outstanding exhibitors, which include P20,000 for the bets booth and P5,000 for the early decorated booth.
“Aside ana naa pod ta’y bangus display ugma (today) nga gikan sa milk fish production property sa province, which will be sold at a lower price,” Saragena added.
The week-long agro-fair dubbed as “Tabo sa Kapitolyo” will be held inside the Capitol compound. Series of other activities have been lined up for the anniversary.
The month-long celebration will be highlighted by the activities on August 6, the founding day anniversary itself, where there will be a “Sayaw sa Dekada 80” dance contest and the “Gabii sa Sugbo” event on August 8.
Assistant Provincial Administrator Ramil Abing, in-charge of the activity, said the Capitol allocated P3 million for the celebration. — (FREEMAN)
