Samuelle Joyrin C. Caing - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - A restaurant in Barangay Lahug, Cebu City lost some P30,000 cash to two men who were caught on closed-circuit television camera early yesterday morning.

CCTV footage at Pino Resturant in Wilson Street showed at 3:59 am yesterday two men breaking the establishment’s exit door glass using an unknown object and once inside, destroyed the tip box and cash register and took the money, except for the coins.

Before fleeing, the burglars took with them the money vault, carting a total of at least P30,000 cash or the previous day earnings of the restaurant.

One of the robbers was seen wearing a bull cap, jacket, short pants, and slipper and the other one wearing T-shirt, short pants, and slippers too.

Senior Police Officer 1 Fredelson Codilla of the Crime Scene Investigation Unit said the suspects were wearing gloves in executing the crime but five latent finger prints were recovered from the exit door glass as well as from the cash register, believing that the two might have removed the gloves in opening the objects.

Codilla said they are still trying to establish the identity of the suspects.

The footage was shown to the manager and representative of the restaurant, but they could not recognize the burglars.

Video footages also showed a security guard conducting roving but was away from the building when the incident happened.

One of the suspects have the same features with another burglar who was also caught on camera broke inside an eatery in Barangay Labangon, which the police are now also investigating. —(FREEMAN)
