Flor Z. Perolina - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - Two alleged drug pushers fell into the hands of the police after they were caught in the act of selling illegal drugs in Barangay Bangkal, Lapu-Lapu City last Friday evening.

Consorcio Taghoy, 31, and Leonardo Pulgo, 45, both residents of Sitio Kauswagan of the said barangay were caught during a buy-bust operation conducted against them by Lapu-Lapu City Police Office.

The operation was led by Inspector Judith Besas, chief of the Women and Children Protection Desk who immediately formed a raiding team after the headquarters received a telephone call regarding the duo’s illegal drug trade.

Using P200 as the marked money, a poseur-buyer bought a small packet of shabu from Taghoy and after the transaction was consummated, both suspects were arrested.

Taghoy was caught in possession of a small pack of suspected shabu and two more medium packs after he was frisked by police. The drugs seized had an estimated street value of P48,000. Aluminum tin foils were also seized from the suspect.

Pulgo, on the other hand, was caught in possession of the P200 marked money, two small packs of the same white powdery substance believed to be shabu, P700 believed to be proceeds of selling shabu and two disposable lighters.

Both suspects are now detained at the Lapu-Lapu City Police Office stockade and will be charged for violation of Section 5 (selling), Section 11 (drug possession) and Section 12 (possession of drug paraphernalia) Article II of the Republic Act 9165 of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 today.  (FREEMAN)
