Traffic rerouting for mayor’s SOCA

CEBU, Philippines - Vehicle rerouting will be implemented in areas near the Cebu City Hall tomorrow, Wednesday, for activities in line with the mayor’s State of the City Address.

The re-routing will start at 6 a.m. and until the SOCA activities are completed.

Portions of four roads will be closed temporarily including the portion of M.C Briones St. from F. Gonzales St. to Lapu-Lapu St; a portion of D. Jakosalem St. from M.C. Briones St. to Magallanes St; a portion of P. Burgos St. from Osmeña Blvd. to M.C. Briones St; and a portion of Magallanes St. from LapuLapu St. to P. Burgos St.

1. One way traffic will be implemented in D. Jakosalem St. for vehicles from Magallanes St. towards Legaspi St. Vehicles going to SRP shall pass through M.J. Cuenco Ave. (Malacañang sa Sugbo) or at the tunnel.

2. One way traffic will also be implemented in F. Gonzales St. for vehicles from M.C. Briones St. towards Osmeña Blvd. Parking of vehicles on both sides of F. Gonzales St. will be prohibited temporarily.

3. Vehicles coming from the Carbon Area passing along M. C. Briones St. shall turn left to F. Gonzales St., then to their point of destination.

4. Passenger jeepneys coming from Pit-os/Talamban with Route Nos. 13B, 62B, 62C and 65B while traversing along V. Gullas St., shall turn right to D. Jakosalem St., to their usual route, then to their point of origin.

5. Passenger jeepneys coming from Banawa, Guadalupe and Capitol while traversing along Osmeña Blvd., shall turn left to D. Jakosalem St., turn left to Plaridel Extension, turn right to Osmeña Blvd., to their usual route, then to their point of destination. Except for Route Nos. 06A and 07A, vehicles that traverse Magallanes St. shall turn right to Calderon St., turn left to Lincoln St., turn left to F. Gonzales St., turn left to Magallanes St., to their usual route, then to their point of origin.

6. Passenger jeepneys coming from Alumnos with Route Nos. 08E and 08G that traverse Colon St. shall turn right to D. Jakosalem St., turn right to V. Gullas St., to their usual route, then to their point of origin. Meanwhile, those with Route No. 08F shall turn left to Mabini Street from Colon Street, turn right to Zulueta St., to V. Sotto St., turn left to S. Osmeña Blvd., to their usual route, then to their point of destination.

7. Passenger jeepneys passing P. Burgos St., shall turn right to Legaspi St., turn left to V. Gullas St., turn right to Magallanes St., to their usual route, then to their point of origin.

8. Passenger jeepneys from Bulacao and/or Pardo with Route Nos. 10D and 10E shall turn right to D. Jakosalem St. from Colon Street, turn right to V. Gullas St., turn right to Magallanes St., to their usual route, then to their point of origin.

9. Passenger jeepneys coming from Inayawan with Route No. 11A shall turn left to Borromeo St. from Magallanes St., turn left to Colon St. and proceed to their usual route while jeepneys with Route No. 11D shall turn right to V. Gullas Street from Mabini St., turn right to Magallanes St., to their usual route, then back to their point of origin.

10. Passenger jeepneys coming from Mabolo shall turn right to Legaspi St. from V. Gullas Street, turn right to Colon St., turn left to Mabini St., turn right to Zulueta St., turn left to M.J. Cuenco Avenue, to their usual route, then to their point of origin.

CITOM operations chief Joy Tumulak said they will limit the number of vehicles that will enter Carbon market so that only a few vehicles pass the City Hall.

VIP guests can access City Hall via P. Burgos St., Osmena Blvd., Magallanes St., Lapulapu St., M.C Briones St., and Lapu-Lapu St.

VIP guests can park their vehicles at the Senior Citizens Park while vehicles of barangay officials and city government employees can park at Maritima.

Tumulak urged those with business at the City Hall to complete them today to avoid hassle tomorrow.

“Sa mga sumasakay nga naay mga transaction palibot sa city hall ugma, mas maayo kung buhaton nila karon,” he added. —/JMO (FREEMAN)
