PRO-7 to probe use of station as “motel”

Ria Mae Y. Booc - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - The Police Regional Office-7 has ordered an investigation into the allegation that some members of the Police Station 2 are using its old headquarters as a “motel.”

Regional Intelligence Division chief Pablo Labra II said he already issued a directive to his deputy to look into the allegation of a woman who claimed to have been brought by a policeman for a “one-night stand” at the old Fuente Police Station.

Chief Inspector Wildemar Tiu, Station 2 chief, said he allowed his men to use the old police station as a place where they could change their uniform but not as a “motel.”

“I allowed the old Fuente Police Station to be used by my personnel as a place where they change their uniforms and not as what they are referring to (lodging place).”

A woman who requested anonymity claimed that she was brought by unidentified policeman to the abandoned station for a “one-night stand” but was not paid.

“Nitug-an siya nga gidala siya sa pulis pero wala kuno siya bayri unya daghan kuno sila didto,” TV5 Aksyon Bisaya reported.

Tiu who assumed as station chief on May 18 said that he did not receive the complaint. He encouraged the complainant to come out in the open and identify the police officer she was with during the “one-night stand” affair for proper investigation to commence.

“It is better kung there is a formal complaint or if she could point kung kinsa kay possible man nga naay nagpa-pulis pulis lang unya dili diay gyud pulis,” Tiu told The FREEMAN.

In the ocular inspection he conducted, Tiu said the office is no longer maintained but still has electricity. Station 2 was transferred to its new building along Osmeña Boulevard across the PRO-7 headquarters.

“But I have one personnel assigned there kay since abandoned dili malikayan nga gamiton unya sa mga night dwellers o tambayan sa mga bugoy,” Tiu said.

He admitted that the old station is also used as command post every time there is an event at the Fuente circle.

Tiu, however, assured that appropriate charges will be filed against erring personnel if the allegation is found to be true.

“There will be an appropriate action if proven kay bati man na nga pasangil sa pulis… dakong sagpa sa kapulisan,” Tiu said.— /FPL (FREEMAN)
