Boxer caught peeing in public

Rene U. Borromeo - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - Popular Boholano boxer Rey "Boom-Boom" Bautista is running the risk of facing charges in court if he will not pay the P500 fine for urinating in public.

Grace Luardo of the Cebu City Environmental Sanitation Enforcement Team (CESET) told The Freeman that Bautista was apprehended  Wednesday night while urinating by the road at the North Reclamation Area.

His act reportedly violated City Ordinance 1361 or the Anti-Littering Ordinance of Cebu City.

Luardo said Bautista has seven days beginning yesterday to pay the fine otherwise CESET will be forced to file a case against him in court.

"Nasuko lagi kuno si Boom-Boom kay dili magpa-isyu og citation ticket apan unsaon nga nakasupak man siya sa balaod," Luardo told The Freeman.

It was CESET enforcer Roberto Minguito who reportedly apprehended the boxer.

Luardo said Minguito recognized Bautista because the former is a boxing fan.

City Ordinance 1361 also penalizes spitting in public places, even throwing a cigarette butt or candy wrappers.

Bautista was a former WBO International featherweight champion, but he was defeated by Jose Ramirez on April 20, 2013 in a split decision. (FREEMAN)
