Job fair offers 25,000 Vacancies
CEBU, Philippines - Over 25, 000 vacancies were made available to applicants who trooped to the Kalayaan Job Fair 2014 in commemoration of the 116th Independence Day yesterday.
The Cebu City government, through the Department of Manpower Development and Placement (DMDP), held the local and overseas job fair at the Abellana National School.
“This is to help and uplift the economic condition of the people,†Suzanne Ardosa, Acting Department Head of DMDP, said.
There were 70 companies that made available 4,000 local job vacancies and 25 other companies that offered 21,000 job opportunities overseas.
Around 1,800 applicants trooped to the job fair, though the given limit was only 1,500.
The applicants expressed thanks for the job opportunities offered particularly those who were hired on the spot by companies which found their credentials impressive.
There were applicants though who had hard time deciding on what job to apply since some of the companies required applicants with experience already while some of the jobs offered were not in line with the degree programs that they have taken.
“Lisud man mangita especially kung fresh graduate ka kay kasagaran with experience ang gipangita,†said Lynne Lomongo, one of the applicants.
Ardosa assured though that his will not be the last time that the city government will conduct a job fair as they have been doing this every year.
The activity started at 8 a.m. and ended at 3 p.m.. (FREEMAN)
