CEBU, Philippines - Two months after a tornado destroyed the sports complex of Sitio Viking, Barangay Mambaling, rehabilitation of the said structure will be starting soon.

The Cebu City Council approved during its regular session Wednesday the P1.9 million Program of Works and Estimate (POWE) prepared by the Department of Engineering and Public Works (DEPW) for its rehabilitation.

"The barangay council of barangay Mambaling requested for the immediate rehabilitation of Sitio Viking Sports Complex because it is normally the site for evacuation for any calamity hit the area," stated in the resolution.

The P1,998,002 POWE includes mobilization and demobilization which cost P10,000, demolition, removal and delivery of dilapidated construction materials to General Services Office Bodega which costs P 35,000.

It also includes the P328,491.37 for the structural steel works replacement of C-Purlins or Facia Framing, P680,205.96 for the re-roofing, P46,250.67 for the hardware materials, P120,252.26 for the re-installation of electrical works, P101,896.70 for the repainting, P44,999.99 for scaffolding and for the H-Frame and P630,904.01 for the concreting of the floor.

Aside from the sports complex, the tornado on April 8 affected more than 50 houses while two people sustained minor injuries in the said barangay.
