Carillo: Job order workers to get approval next week

CEBU, Philippines - After the Cebu City Council questioned their contracts, some 300 job order (JO) personnel of City Hall will finally be hired.

City Councilor Gerardo Carillo said they will approve in their session Wednesday next week the contract of the said employees.

“We have already told them na i-follow lang gyud nila ang resolution sa konseho regarding the hiring of job order personnel,” said Carillo.

Carillo, who heads the council’s committee on social services, called for an executive session for all department heads and JOs last Thursday.

In their previous session, Carillo said there was a need to discuss the problem on the hiring and rehiring of JOs.

“The job order employees recommended by these various offices don’t have the necessary project proposal. We really need to correct this because this is a recurring problem already,” he had said.

The councilor said the council also wants to help the JOs so their jobs can be recognized and they would eventually be paid.

Carillo said the council has to approve first the project proposal for a JO and then determine the budget for their monthly salary.

“Ang nahitabo man gud karon, nauna ang pag-hire before ang atong approval (What is being practiced now is that they are hired first before council approval is sought out),” he said.

Carillo said that as long as their hiring is in order and covered by a project proposal made by the department heads, the council will always approve the employment of JOs.

This is because the city would continue to hire JOs as long as City Hall needs their services. —/RHM (FREEMAN)
