CEBU, Philippines - Councilor Sisinio Andales is calling on the Department of Labor and Employment  and the Occupational Safety and Health Center to jointly monitor the construction industry in Cebu City.

In a resolution filed before the Cebu City Council, Andales said strengthening monitoring is necessary considering that Cebu City is booming with infrastructure projects.

Through an administrative order issued by Secretary Rosalinda Baldoz, DOLE directed its regional offices to collaborate with OSHC for the conduct of Construction  Safety Training to ensure the safety and health of construction workers.

“The Department of Labor and Employment  had been campaigning for the observance of the guidelines regarding occupational safety and health in the construction industry, to ensure safety and health of construction workers with the guidance from the Occupational Safety and Health Center,” Andales’ resolution reads.  (FREEMAN)
