CEBU, Philippines - A Nigerian national was arrested after he allegedly failed to pay his P1,000 taxi fare.

Gabriel Olom, 27, a maritime student in one of the universities in Cebu, was arrested by the taxi driver himself after he refused to pay his fare.

Ruel Ylanan, 33, from Langin, Ronda said he was forced to place his passenger under citizen’s arrest and turned him over to the police. Ylanan said Olom toured around the city for two hours, from 10:20 p.m. Saturday until 12:30 a.m. Sunday.

Olom promised to pay him after making several attempts to withdraw cash from various ATM booths. However, Ylanan said the suspect was just fooling him around, prompting him to have him arrested.

The suspect is now detained at the police station and is set to face a complaint for estafa.  (FREEMAN)
