The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - A coalminer  was arrested by the police who caught him in the act of throwing drug paraphernalia in the garbage can in Barangay Balaas, Argao Wednesday morning.

Police Officer 2 Jamal Kiri Camerino of Argao Police Station identified the suspect as Moises Acedera Jr., 34, a coalminer of the same place.

Camerino told The FREEMAN that they received reports about drug activities in the area, prompting them to conduct operation.

At about 11 a.m., Camerino arrested Acedera while his companion, Roberto Papalid, 42, reportedly a chief tanod of the barangay, eluded arrest.

Recovered from the suspect were 10 sachets containing suspected shabu and six live ammunitions for .45 cal. pistol inside the pocket of Papalid’s black jacket, which he threw upon his escape.

Acedera will face a charge for violation of  the  Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act while the police are still looking for Papalid.

Meanwhile, two persons were arrested at separate checkpoints in Cebu City for possession of illegal drugs.

Along Tres De Abril Street, Barangay San Nicolas Proper, the team of Inspector Alexander Quirante arrested Orland Domicillo, 57, a resident of Subangdaku, Mandaue City, for possession of a stick of marijuana.
