Rotary donates P1M for CCMC
CEBU, Philippines - The Rotary International has donated P1 million for the reconstruction of the Cebu City Medical Center.
The donation was turned over yesterday to Mayor Michael Rama by the club’s district 3860 Governor Edgar Chiongbian.
“The district 3860 of the rotary organization believes that the calamity that affected Cebu City was really…the biggest effect of that was the downing of the Cebu City Medical Center,†said Chiongbian.
He added that fixing the said hospital would help and benefit all the Cebuanos.
“Without the hospital we will have the problems continuing even the disaster maybe a hundred years and if we will not support it we will not have the hospital for the city,†he said.
Chiongbian said this is their service to the community especially to the disaster-hit areas, like Cebu City.
The reconstruction of the CCMC would cost P1.3 billion. This includes the building for the CCMC school of nursing. The CCMC building was one of the government and private buildings in the city that were damaged by the magnitude 7.2 earthquake in October last year.
Rotary International is one of the biggest organizations active around the world with 1.2 million members and 534 districts whose aim is to develop communities and train future leaders.
On the other hand, Metro Gaisano donated P20,000 worth of gift certificates for the Buhing Kalbaryo project of Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama.
“That’s our annual activity jud na sa mayor niya ni-support mi (Gaisano Metro) sa activity mo kuan gyud mi sa community and this is our one way of giving sa community sa metro itself nga nitabang gyud mi sa community,†said May Sasedor, area manager of Metro Gaisano.
