CEBU, Philippines - Two persons were arrested for illegal possession of firearms and prohibited drugs in Barangay Lorega, Cebu City last Monday evening.

The suspects were identified as Lester “Opaw” Ablay, 21, and Fermin “Kolera” Cui, 60.

San Nicolas Police Station chief, Senior Insp. Chuck Barandog, in a press conference yesterday, said that the police received an armed persons alarm around 8:30 p.m. on that day.

The suspects allegedly owned the two .45 cal. pistols with magazines loaded with seven live ammunitions each.

The City Intelligence Branch also seized a rubber plant pot with two grown marijuana plants.

Barandog said that the prohibited plants were believed to be used for the suspects’ personal consumption only.

The suspects will be facing charges for violating Republic Act 8294, otherwise known as the Anti-Illegal Possession of  Firearms. — (FREEMAN)
