CEBU, Philippines - The Talisay City government has sought the help of the provincial government in the purchase of additional garbage trucks.
Talisay City Vice Mayor Romeo Villarante said the trucks currently being used are already dilapidated and could barely retain the garbage in place, which may raise health concerns and bother some residents.
“Kuwang among trucks. Usa sa mga problema sa barangay Maghaway, ang mga mangagi nga trak didto, mag-agas-agas na ang mga hugaw to the extent nga ma-disrupted ang klase sa mga bata,†he said.
Only 15 of the 22 barangays in the city have garbage trucks.
Last year, the city also sought Capitol’s help for the acquisition of trucks for Barangays Pooc, Biasong, Dumlog, Mohon and Lawaan I.
Barangay captains in Talisay City have also sought Capitol’s help for the implementation of their priority projects including the repair of barangay halls.
Villarante said Governor Hilario Davide III assured them that Capitol will provide help, but Davide said he will check first which projects need to be prioritized.
“I told them nga tan-awon unsa ilang priority projects. I also assured nga whatever we can, bisan di kaayo dinagko, at least atong matabangan,†the governor said. — (FREEMAN)
