Warwick dwellers get no TRO to stay

Mechelle P. Florita/GMR - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - Regional Trial Court Branch 18 Judge Gilbert Moises has not granted the petition for temporary restraining order filed by the dwellers of Sitio Warwick-Barracks, Barangay Ermita, Cebu City.

City Attorney Jerone Castillo claimed the decision supported their position that dwellers should not be allowed to live in the area, which is not a residential place.

“Giawhag ni Judge nga katong giingon nga lehitimo nga stall holders nga mao kuno’y mga kihante nga wala pa mahatagan og pwesto, pangitaan og paagi nga mahimutang sila,” Castillo said.

However, as of yesterday morning, they do not have the list of the legitimate stall owners.

Castillo also said the court did not also order the city to provide relocation site for the dwellers.

“Wala siya naghisgot ana because, ang priority gyud for them is makabalik sila sa pagpaninda, wala may hisgot sa kanang paghigda o pagpuyo,” he added.

Earlier, Cebu City’s Division for the Welfare of  the Urban Poor head Collin Rosell said they have a socialized housing program for victims of  the fire that hit in the area.

Rosell said anyone who wants to relocate to the relocation site in Barangay Budlaan can live there anytime.

However, he said applicants are screened and only those deserving can avail the program.  (FREEMAN)
