Five prov’l gov’t-run properties undergo repair

CEBU, Philippines - Five properties of the Cebu provincial government which have been damaged by recent disasters are currently undergoing retrofitting. 

Capitol Information Officer Ethel Natera said that the facilities include the Provincial Capitol, the legislative building, the Museo Sugbo, the Cebu South Bus Terminal and the Cebu Cultural Center, which all need repair or rehabilitation.

For the Cebu Cultural Center, for example, the provincial government allocated P7,489,500 for the rehabilitation which will have Bantay Construction as the contractor.

“Considering Cultural Center is an income generating facility, we won’t just fixed the walls and roof…it’s not about fixing what are damaged. But we have to upgrade it entirely especially the (acoustics) ceiling,” she said.

The rehabilitation of the Cebu Cultural Center started on February 7 and expected to be completed by April 22.

According to the Construction Division Project Status Report of the Office of the Provincial Engineer, the contract amount for the retrofitting of the legislative building is P6,863,404.05, with Loren Builders as the contractor. 

The timeframe for the building’s repair is from February 1 to April 16.

 The main building of the Capitol has a budget of P2,493,456. The repair has already started on February 1 and is expected to be completed today.

The repair of Museo Sugbo costs P1,450,000 with P.B. Obial Construction as the contractor while the rehabilitation of the Cebu South Bus Terminal is pegged at P586,166.18 with BIAO Builders as the contractor. (FREEMAN)
