Motorcycle accident kills boy, 18; injures two others

CEBU, Philippines - An 18-year-old boy died after he and his two companions riders figured in an accident in Barangay Tuble, Moalboal past 1 a.m. on Saturday.

Ronal Arong, 18, resident of Tunga, Moalboal, was driving a Honda XRM 125 motorcycle with two “back riders” going to Barangay Saavedra when the accident happened.

Jason Gaballo, 20, of Sitio Pooc, Barangay Poblacion West, and Kenneth Legarte, of Poblacion West, Moalboal, were severely injured.

Police investigation disclosed that when Arong reached Barangay Tuble, he suddenly lost control of the motorcycle and it went over to the other lane and hit a concrete flower pot.

Due to the impact, both the driver and the passengers were thrown off the motorcycle.

PO3 Ramon Chinel, PO1 Arnold Sergio and PO1 Melvin Delica responded the accident alarm.

Responding police officers brought the victims to the nearby hospital for immediate treatment.

Arong was pronounced dead on arrival by the attending physician while Gaballo and Legarte had to be brought to Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center for proper medical attention.

Police officers found out that Arong was driving without a driver’s license.

Meanwhile a trisikad driver was hit by a motorcycle driven by an identified person in Badian town 9:00 p.m. on Friday.

Ed Julito Pelegrino, 22, of Barangay Basak, Badian was walking along the national road when he was hit by a motorcycle.

The victim was brought to Badian District Hospital for immediate medical attention while the motorcycle driver fled away. (FREEMAN)
