Naga City’s 7th most wanted gunned down in operation; PIDMB arrests 2 rape suspects

CEBU, Philippines - A rape suspect was gunned down by the police while two others were arrested in separate operations yesterday by the Naga City police and the Provincial Investigation and Detective Management Branch (PIDMB).

Danolo Paran, of Barangay Lanas, Naga City, died of a gunshot wound in the chest after he tried to elude policemen who were out to serve him a warrant of arrest for rape.

Naga police chief, Supt. Brindo Nacario, said that his men were about to serve the arrest warrant signed by Regional Trial Court Judge Manuel Patalinghug, Branch 22 in Cebu City when Paran got his .38 revolver and fired at the authorities, which prompted the police to return fire.

“There was no chase. Gipusil na kay siya man niuna,” Nacario said in a phone interview.

Police took Paran to the Naga Provincial Hospital but was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician.

Police recovered Paran’s .38 revolver loaded with three bullets.

Nacario further said that Paran was the seven most wanted person in Naga City.

Meanwhile, the PIDMB also arrested other alleged rape suspects in successive operations in Lapu-Lapu City and Consolacion town.

PIDMB first arrested Deo Arellano, 28, in Sitio Zone Kasag, Barangay Kalawisan, Lapu-Lapu City last Thursday.

Sr. Insp. Wilson Abot, PIDMB team leader, said they have been monitoring Arellano’s whereabouts which led to his arrest at around 11:40 p.m.

Yesterday, the team proceeded to Sitio Riverside, Brgy Nangka, Consolacion around 2:45 a.m. where they arrested Khudairi Ayub, 24.

Arellano and Ayub are both residents of Sitio Quirino North, Barangay Tabunok, Tabuelan. Their warrants of arrest were signed by then Regional Trial Court Judge Gabriel Englis, of Branch 59 in Toledo City.

Abot told The FREEMAN said that both suspects allegedly raped a neighbor, who was a minor, in separate incidents in 2005 and 2006.

Abot said the suspects claimed they had a relationship with the victim. But this was denied by the girl.

“Sila puro nangangkon nga uyab sila sa biktima pero dili dungan pero ang biktima ni-insist man nga gi-rape gyud siya,” Abot said. —/ATO (FREEMAN)
