New Naga police chief pushes for bigger station
CEBU, Philippines - The new chief of police of Naga City will ask city officials’ help to make a new, bigger police station.
Supt. Brindo Nacario, who assumed his new post as Naga City police chief, said he will push for a new police station in order to uplift the image of the local police.
“Gamay ra man gud ang police station unya daghan ug personnel, dili comfortable,†Nacario told The Freeman over the phone.
Nacario however said that his top priority as the new police chief of this component city is to implement the directive of the PNP Headquarters which is to reduce street criminalities by 50 percent.
He said he will also introduce the “hall of nation concept†by organizing the barangay tanods and local peace stakeholders with the aim to give them opportunity to know with each other and discuss their respective responsibilities in helping the local police in curbing crimes.
Nacario assumed his post last Tuesday after Naga city Mayor Valdemar Chiong picked him to replace Supt. Eduardo Saavedra from five names submitted to him by Cebu Provincial Police Office (CPPO) director, Supt. Noel Gillamac.
Other police officials included in the list were Supt. Ricky Delelis, Supt. Ali Baron, Chief Insp. Marlon Gumabao and Chief Insp. Richard Oliver.
Saavedra was ordered to report to the Police Regional Office (PRO-7) last Monday. He is under investigation following a mauling complaint filed by a bus driver last October of 2013.
The Naga City police station is but one of the three police stations affected by the reshuffling implemented by Gillamac.
Sr. Insp. Richard Gadingan replaced Minglanilla police station chief, Chief Insp. Timmar Alam, who was ordered to report as new deputy chief of the Provincial Intelligence and Detection Management Bureau (PIDMB). Alam had served Minglanilla for more than two years, while Gadingan as deputy chief of Talisay city police station.
Bogo City police chief, Supt. Anthony Bagarinao will now serve as the new legal counsel of the CPPO Headquarters. Chief Insp. Hermano Mallari, who once became the acting chief of PIDMB, will replace Bagarinao. PIDMB will have Provincial Intelligence Branch (PIB) chief, Supt. Rodolfo Albotra, as its concurrent chief.
Gillamac said the minor changes of assignment of police chiefs will help enhance the skills and knowledge of police officials on different PNP jobs. —/JRS (FREEMAN)
