CEBU, Philippines - One person died and another one was wounded in separate shooting incidents in Cebu City.

Police identified the victim as a certain Rusty Lopez of Sitio Lawis, Barangay Pasil based on the Police Clearance that they  recovered from his wallet.

Homicide investigator SPO1 Ruth Violango said that they will verify Lopez's background because police personnel and residents of Sitio Pagatpat, Barangay Mambaling do not know the victim.

"Ang biktima naila nga si Rusty Lopez, early 30s gi-verify na namo background, wa kaila ang Mambaling police, taga didto wa sad kaila ato niya," she said.

Violango told The FREEMAN that Lopez was about to buy a pack of cigarette in a sari-sari store at 11:20 yesterday morning two unidentified men arrived and shoot him several times.

The victim suffered gunshot wounds on his forehead, left cheek and on the back portion of his head.

"Tulo ka igo ang nakita, agtang, left cheek ug likod sa ulo, distansya lang gamay, ang ikaduha gidul-it na siguro, head shot na ang ikaduha," she said.

Violango said that they are still exploring all possible angles of the death of Lopez including personal grudge.

Meanwhile, a 50-year-old Tiago Cañete was rushed to Cebu City Medical Center after he was shot by a certain "Romnick" in Unit I Carbon Market, Barangay Ermita, Cebu City.

Based on a spot report, while the suspect was walking around 10:00 p.m. Saturday night, he was shot by Romnick using an unknown caliber of firearm and then fled away.

Homicide investigators are still investigating the two shooting incidents for the possible arrest of the suspects. (FREEMAN)
