CPPO to implement minor revamp starting Monday

Ria Mae Y. Booc - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - The Cebu Provincial Police Office is implementing a minor revamp starting on Monday affecting at least three police station chiefs.

CPPO director, Sr. Supt. Noel Gillamac, said this is a regular movement of personnel because some chiefs of police are already overstaying. A chief of police has a regular two-year tour of duty.

Gillamac said there are also police officials that need to be given the opportunity to handle a unit. Among the police stations set to be affected by the minor revamp are in Minglanilla, City of Naga and Bogo City.

The Provincial Investigation and Detective Management Branch will also have a new chief.

Minglanilla police chief, Chief Insp. Timmar Alam, will be reassigned as deputy chief of PIDMB. Talisay City deputy police chief, Sr. Inspector Richard Gadingan, will take Alam's post in Minglanilla.

City of Naga police chief, Supt. Eduardo Saavedra, will be transferred to Police Regional Office (PRO)-7 while his deputy, Sr. Insp. Donald Geniston, will serve as officer-in-charge pending the mayor's choice of the new chief of police.

Gillamac said he has already submitted a list of qualified officials to Mayor Valdemar Chiong for the latter to choose from. The mayor reportedly has yet to pick his choice.

The list includes Supt. Ricky Delelis, Supt. Ali Baron, Supt. Brindo Nacario, Chief Insp. Marlon Gumabao and Chief Insp. Richard Oliver.

"So far, wala pa man nabalik ang lista wala pa sad feedback from the mayor's office," Gillamac said in a phone interview.

Bogo City police chief, Supt. Anthony Bagarinao, will now serve as CPPO's legal counsel. He will be replaced by Chief Insp. Hermano Mallari.

Supt. Rodolfo Albotra, Provincial Intelligence Branch (PIB) chief, will serve as concurrent chief of the PIDMB.

"Higayon sad ni sa paghatag sa uban nga mamahimo silang chief of police unya maka-handle og station," Gillamac said. (FREEMAN)
