“Drug user” shot in Mambaling

CEBU, Philippines - An alleged drug user was shot to death by an unidentified gunman in Barangay Mambaling, Cebu City, around 3:00 a.m last Saturday.

Cebu City Police Office's (CCPO) Homicide Section identified the victim as Gerald Agas, 24, of the said barangay.

Agas' friend, Arman Maranga, told investigators that he and another companion were having a drinking session with the victim prior the shooting.

Maranga said he decided to buy a pack of cigarettes in a nearby sari-sari store where Agas reportedly followed him.

Maranga said that all of a sudden, an unidentified gunman approached the victim and shot him twice. Agas managed to run away from the shooter, said Maranga, but fell to the ground several meters away.

The victim succumbed to gunshot wounds on his left arm and chest.

Agas' companions were also able to run for their safety while the suspect hurriedly left after the incident.

According to police investigation, the victim was reportedly a habitual drug user and was responsible for several theft and robbery incidents in the area.

PO1 Michael Angelo Singson told The FREEMAN that Agas was likely killed by a man who has a grudge on him.

The victim's body was brought to the St. Francis Funeral Homes for autopsy.— (FREEMAN)
