Police kill pusher, arrest bro, mom
CEBU, Philippines - An alleged drug pusher was killed while his cohort was injured and two others were arrested in an operation conducted by the Provincial Intelligence Branch Saturday afternoon in Sitio Pandan, Barangay Mahawak, Medellin.
Operatives seized assorted guns and illegal drugs worth P100,000 from the suspects.
Succumbed to a gunshot wound on his head was Allan Arriesgado, of Barangay Mohon while his cohort, Vicente Rosos, an ex-convict, was injured at his leg and was taken to Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center in Cebu City for medication.
Arrested were Jerry Arriesgado, brother of Allan and Marissa Arriesgado, their mother, who are both detained at the Consolacion police stockade.
Confiscated from them were several packets of shabu worth P100,000; .9mm pistol with 16 bullets; .357 Magnum revolver with six bullets; three pieces of .45 pistol with 14 bullets; .38 revolver with five bullets, .22 Black Widow revolver with bullets, a hand grenade, money transfer receipts and a notebook with P700,000 worth of collectibles.
Illegal drugs were taken to the Philippine National Police Crime Laboratory-7 in Camp Sotero Cabahug, Cebu City for chemical analysis.
Operatives had been monitoring Allan in the area since Friday but they failed to have the chance to arrest him, said SPO1 Reynaldo Solante, team leader.
Solante told The FREEMAN they responded an armed person alarm at the cockfighting arena at the said barangay which turned out to be Allan.
It was Jerry who first noticed the presence of the operatives prompted him to inform Allan who suddenly drew his .9mm pistol from his waistline. It was at this juncture when operatives shot at Allan hitting him in the head.
Jerry was about to retaliate upon seeing Allan fell on the ground but he was overpowered by the operatives.
Rosos, who was also armed, was about to shoot at the team but operatives neutralized him by shooting at his leg.
"Manukol ra ba gyud unta kay agresibo kaayo pero wala na katira kay daghan man pud tong tawo labi na mga bata possible daghang maigo," Solante said in a phone interview.
Marissa was arrested but her other son, Salve, armed with a .45 pistol hurriedly left on foot leaving his pistol behind.
Solante said that suspects were noted drug pushers in northern Cebu.
They were selling drugs at that time as the barangay was celebrating its annual fiesta celebration.
"Biyernes pa na namo gimonitor pero wala gyud mi kita ug higayon maong adtong Sabado na namo gi-adto," he said.
Allan was also in the watch list of the PIB as a level three drug pusher in the area.
Separate charges will be filed against the suspects.
Allan, Salve and Jerry are identified as suspects in the shooting incident in Barangay Tinubdan, Daanbantayan last month. (FREEMAN)
