CEBU, Philippines - The Lions Club International District 301-B2 has raised and spent more than P5 million of relief goods to typhoon victims in northern Cebu and other parts of the Visayas as well as the earthquake victims in Bohol.
Other Lions Club also donated approximately 3,500 packs of relief goods to various devastated areas.
District Governor, Rev. Fr. Eduardo Ventic, said that they were coordinating with parishes making the distribution orderly though they also heard some complaints from those who did not receive.
“Naay reklamo, di gyud na malikayan,†said Ventic.
He said that they have coordinated the barangay officials for the listing of affected families.
District legal counsel, Atty. Jose Ma. Gastardo said that it’s unfortunate that there were some complaints but they cannot accommodate all.
“They should be happy, di gyud maapod tanan,†Gastardo said.
The group first distributed 3,500 relief packs in Sagbayan and Catigbian towns in Bohol after the earthquake.
Through the Cebu Centennial Lions Club, they also distributed 3,000 relief packs in Ormoc City.
More than 6,000 packs were also distributed in Bantayan Island, Hilotongan Island, Bogo City, and Daanbantayan.
The Bukidnon Pulangi Lions Club also distributed goods in Maya and Malapascua Island in Daanbantayan.
District 301-B2 is composed of Cebu Province, Bohol, Leyte, Samar, Siquijor and part of Dumaguete.— (FREEMAN)
