76-year-old Australian “stabbed” by teen Filipina GF

CEBU, Philippines - An Australian national was found sprawled in his room with stab wounds on his body last Wednesday in Barangay Guadalupe, Cebu City.

John William Townsent, 76, is now being treated at the hospital while police are looking for 19-year-old Filipina, Bonesa Dabalos, who is reportedly the girlfriend of Townsent and who allegedly stabbed the foreigner.

SPO3 Rey Cuyos of the Homicide Section said they received the report about the incident around 10 in the morning while Townsent was stabbed a few hours earlier.

The foreigner was discovered inside his room in Woodcrest Condominium in Quijada St. by the condo personnel, Roland Marquez.

Marquez checked on Townsent after he was told by one of their occupants, Leo Verstrate and her girlfriend Rowena Medalla that the suspect’s friend informed them through a text message about the foreigner’s state.

They then found Townsent lying on the floor with stab wounds on his back, right thigh and left arm, prompting them to call for the Emergency  Rescue Unit Foundation (ERUF).

The victim was rushed to the Cebu Doctor’s Hospital where he is still being treated.

SPO3 Rey Cuyos of  Homicide Section said Dabalos is being considered as the suspect based on the footage caught by the condominium’s security camera where it showed Dabalos entering the condominium at around  7 pm and left the place at 5:27 am the following day.

“Wala g’yuy laing nisulod sa kwarto sa Australian, siya ra man g’yud. Gipangita sad nato siya sa ilang balay, wala pa ma-locate hantod ron,” said Cuyos.

Cuyos said they are further investigating what weapon the suspect could have used in stabbing the foreigner, who is now in stable condition according to the doctor, he said.

Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) recovered a kitchen knife though, which was at least 12 inches long, inside the victim’s room.

The Homicide Section investigator said they further learned that since the foreigner resided in the condominium last year, Dabalos was a frequent visitor. (FREEMAN)
