TF, Star hold job fair at SM Cebu
CEBU, Philippines - Close to a thousand job seekers have grabbed the opportunity of getting employed during the very first one-day job fair organized by the Philippine Star and The FREEMAN at SM City Cebu Trade Hall last Saturday.
A total of 15 companies, local and overseas, had participated in the whole day affair.
Most companies identified almost half of their applicants as potential prospects and sent them for endorsement and examination on that day. Others are also set to finish the selection process today.
Over a hundred of positions were made available for the applicants that include customer service representatives, technical support professionals, team leaders, marketing officers, sales managers, among others.
Philippine Star marketing head Bimbo Andrade is looking forward to holding another job fair in Cebu on April and on October next year.
“Next year, expect na madagdagan to because of the success of this job fair. Abangan nila next year. Mas malaki, mas madaming job openings, mas madaming job vacancies,†he said.
Philippine Star has been holding around eight to 10 job fairs in a year. Andrade was also grateful of the presence of the job seekers from the other provinces like Bohol and Leyte.
“We are very happy. We thought na Cebuanos lang would be here,†he said.
Kathleen Mendrez, a fresh Hotel and Restaurant Management graduate from Bacolod, and Venice Tiauzon, a former Overseas Filipino Worker, were among those hopeful applicants during the job fair.
“Medyo kulbaan pero exciting. I can see nga mas easy dinhi mo-apply. Hopeful ko nga makasulod ko’g trabaho kay lisod kayo mangita’g trabaho,†Tiauzon said adding that she was thankful for the opportunity.
The event was also made possible with the help of the local government units, Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and the Public Employment and Services Office (PESO). — (BANAT NEWS)
