CEBU, Philippines - The Cebu Beautiful Movement Foundation Inc. will be donating construction materials to residents affected by super typhoon Yolanda in the fourth district of the province.

CBMFI co-chairman Margueritte “Margie” Lhuillier in a press conference yesterday said that this is one of their ways to help the people in the district.

“We want to help them rebuild their own homes,” said Lhuillier, whose several pawnshop businesses in the district were also not spared from the wrath of Yolanda.

Businesswoman and philanthropist, Mariquita Salimbangon-Yeung, who is also the chairperson of the foundation said that this is just their initial move.

“We will start giving 6,000 bags of cement on Monday,” said Yeung, sister of Rep. Benhur Salimbangon, whose district was devastated by Yolanda.

Yeung said they continue to appeal especially their friends from abroad to help the people in the district rise up again.

Rep. Salimbangon said that since most houses, around 100,000 in the district were flattened, people now are making make shift homes.

“Pwerteng paita sa kahimtang sa mga tawo didto kay way mga balay,” he said.

But the congressman said that he already ordered some tents as temporary shelter, but admits, it would not be enough to shelter more than 500,000 affected residents.  (FREEMAN)
