Aquino’s in-law helps in Capitol repacking efforts

AJ de la Torre - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - Various organizations have been participating in repacking operations at the Provincial Capitol since last Friday.

Yesterday, the group of Eldon Cruz, husband of Balsy Aquino, who is the sister of President Benigno Aquino III, was among those who joined the repacking of goods intended for Northern Cebu towns.

In an interview with the media, Cruz said he chose to participate in repacking, particularly in Cebu since the province is close to his heart.

Cruz said he grew up in Bogo City and studied until grade 4 in a private school in Cebu City. His brother, who was also with him yesterday, was also born in Cebu, said Cruz.

He also said that he will ask his sister-in-law, Pinky Aquino-Abellada, to include schools in Northern Cebu in the plans under the Aklat Gabay at Pag-aalaga (AGAP) foundation to rebuild schools ravaged by the super typhoon.

“I will ask her if she could donate school buildings in the stricken areas,” Cruz said.

He added that he as well as the Aquino sisters will be going around the typhoon-damaged areas all over Visayas in the next few days.  (FREEMAN)
