Niña G. Sumacot-Abenoja - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - The body of a 21-year-old college student, who reportedly jumped off a shipping vessel four days ago, was found floating at Pier 4 in Cebu City yesterday afternoon.

Police identified the fatality as Jay Trocio Ignalig, a mechanical engineering major of the University of Cebu-Main Campus and a resident of Subangdaku, Mandaue City.

Waterfront Police Chief Wildemar Tiu said Ignalig was the same person who jumped from a Roble Shipping passenger vessel in the seawaters of Camotes Island at around 2:45 p.m. last Thursday.

Passengers of another ship found his body floating at Pier 4 past 5 p.m. yesterday. The victim was identified by his mother.

Tiu said they are still investigating the incident to determine if Ignalig’s death was indeed a suicide case or not. (FREEMAN)
