Woman with guns arrested
CEBU, Philippines - Operatives of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-7 arrested Wednesday afternoon a woman who allegedly sells firearms in Barangay Poblacion, Danao City.
Seized from the suspect, Wilma Beduya, 43, were two firearms and several ammunition during the search by the CIDG operatives, who were armed with a search warrant issued by Executive Judge Teresita Galanida of the Regional Trial Court Branch 56.
The police recovered two KG9 pistols, three firearm magazines, and at least 552 ammunition for calibers .45 and 9mm pistols from a metal locker at Beduya’s house.
The operation was witnessed by barangay officials.
Supt. Fermin Armendarez said Beduya has been in the illegal gun trade for some time now.
“Siya’y tigbaligya sa mga armas na nahuman na og himo. Kadtong mga na-recover namo na armas gikan niya, salin na lang ‘to sa iyang nabaligya pag-election,†Armendarez said.
The suspect allegedly sells caliber .45 pistols, .38 revolvers, and KG9 pistols in wholesale.
Armendarez said the suspect would sell a KG9 pistol for P10,000 to P15,000 and that they found a list of purchase orders in her house.
Armendarez said they are still investigating where Beduya would get her gun supply.
The CIDG-7 official said they applied for a search warrant after confirming reports of Beduya’s illegal gun trade.
The suspect initially resisted and complained, but eventually gave in to authorities after they found the evidence, said Armendarez.
A charge for illegal possession of firearms and ammunition will be filed against her. — (FREEMAN)
