Dalaguete water supply fixed

AJ de la Torre - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines -  After two weeks with no water supply following the damage caused by the 7.2 magnitude earthquake to the town’s water system, households in Dalaguete finally regained back regular flowing water over the weekend.

Rydel Cisneros, municipal administrator and designated public information officer of Dalaguete, confirmed that the water system was finally restored last Saturday.

“At least naa nami household running water, dili na mangunay og sag-ob,” said Cisneros.

The town of Dalaguete was among the southern municipalities in Cebu that acquired the most damage during the 7.2 magnitude earthquake that hit Central Visayas last October 15.

Apart from the damaged water system, Cisneros said all officials and employees of their municipal hall have been using the lobby of the annex building as their temporary office since the main building has been condemned for use due to the damage caused by the earthquake.

The municipal hall remains “untouched,” said Cisneros, but they have already submitted a report to their municipal engineer’s office for further action.

The provincial government said they are ready to support the costs for repair on damaged government structures in municipalities and cities in the province. — (FREEMAN)
