Ordinary citizens eager to have new CCMC, give ‘piso-piso’

CEBU, Philippines - Jeepney and bus passengers are also more eager to give their all out support to raise funds for the construction of a new city-run hospital for the underprivileged.

Cebu City Medical Center staff, Pierre Jabagat, in a message through Facebook to Cebu City Public Information Office said that the people are eager to rebuild CCMC by dropping coins at the stationed "coin bank" outside the Bureau of Fire Protection building just across the hospital.

Though, Jabagat said there are also some who are passive in extending their "piso" help for CCMC.

"Manggihatagon kaayo ang mga manakayay og jeep ug bus. Pero naay uban nga kever lang.Basin mausab pa ang kasingkasing nila ning mga mosunod na mga adlaw," the message read.

CCMC personnel together with nursing student interns made their way to raise P12,943 for the "Piso Mo Hospital Ko" campaign.

The donations of the jeepney and bus passengers on Monday have reached said amount, said former city treasurer and current CCMC treasurer Emma Villarete.

At the Cebu City Hall, the Office of the Treasurer also counted P9,511 from the four empty water containers served as coin banks.

The city government in two days since the launching of "Piso Mo Hospital Ko" campaign raised a total of P162,000.

The said campaign, Councilor Mary Ann delos Santos, earlier said was conceptualized after the quake caused the current building unsafe for occupancy.

There are stationed empty water containers for donations at BFP-7 compound along N. Bacalso Ave., Cebu City Hall Legislative Building main entrance and at the right corner of the lobby, Incident Command Center at Plaza Sugbu (fronting City Hall), Office of the Mayor (Executive Building) entrance and City Treasurer's Office (CTO) at the second and third floors of the Executive Building.

Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama has requested those who want to help rebuild CCMC to drop by any Banco de Oro branches and deposit the money in account number 0026800-7933 under the name "City of Cebu-Trust Fund".

Further, he also asked the public to donated empty water containers that would serve as deposit boxes for the fund-raising campaign by giving them to the Public Information Office at City Hall.—(FREEMAN)
