UV accounting students win big in inter-collegiate finance tilt

CEBU, Philippines - The University of the Visayas team bagged the top prize in the Central and Eastern Visayas leg of the Inter-Collegiate Finance Competition (ICFC) and finished fourth place in the national ranking.

The UV Team, composed of Mary Ann Minoza, Mary Grace Jumola and Grace Oga-ob are set to compete in the nationals on October 21 at the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas office in Manila. They will go up against UP Diliman (1st place), Ateneo de Manila (2nd place), University of Santo Tomas (3rd place) and 16 other schools from all over the country.

Minoza is also set to compete in the Accounting Quiz Showdown in Palawan on Oct. 22.

UV Executive Vice President Jose “Dodong” R. Gullas rewarded the students with a cash prize.

The ICFC is a project of the Junior Financial Executives Institute of the Philippines (FINEX). It aims to promote networking and friendship, exchange of ideas, and cooperation among participants. The program also aims to expose colleges and universities to world class finance education standards. (FREEMAN)
