Love triangle eyed on driver’s death
CEBU, Philippines - A motorcycle-for-hire driver was shot and killed by two men in Barangay Poblacion Ward 1, Minglanilla town late Friday night.
The police are eyeing love triangle as the most possible motive behind the attack.
Victim Roldan Caparas, 32, has reportedly been receiving death threats from an unknown sender a month prior to the incident.
Caparas just arrived at a motorcycle parking area after bringing a passenger around 11 p.m. when he was shot by two men on a black XRM motorcycle.
The victim, who was hit below his left eye, was rushed to the Minglanilla District Hospital but did not make it alive.
The assailants, who covered their faces with white cloth, then sped off towards Talisay City. Responding policemen recovered a shell of a caliber .45 pistol from the crime scene.
Elsa, Caparas’ live-in partner, said the victim had been receiving threats on his mobile phone since last month. He allegedly chose not to report the threats to the police.
“Misulti lang daw ni siya kabahin sa hulga unya miingon nga kun magkina-unsa, ipa-blotter unya ninyo (She said the victim merely said that if anything happens, that is the time to have the threats recorded with the police), †said PO2 Vincent Heramil of Minglanilla Police.
Heramil said they received information that someone was jealous with the victim because of a female “suki†or regular passenger. (FREEMAN)
