Cyberporn victims still with DSWD

CEBU, Philippines - None of those rescued from the so-called “cybersex dens” in Cordova town have been integrated back to the community, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) 7 said.

Shalaine Marie Lucero, chief of DSWD’s Protective Services Unit, told The Freeman yesterday that the victims are still in DSWD’s custody.

The 13-year-old daughter of the “Queen of Cyberporn,” her 14-year-old niece and a 17-year-old boy rescued  are still with DSWD’s custody until now since they have no relatives yet that are willing and capable to take care of them.

“Wala pa nato gi-integrate balik sa ilang community kining mga minors kay wala pa may relative nila nga willing ug capable nga mo-take care nila. Bisan ug willing unya dili capable, ang environment dili gihapon maayo sa mga bata, maong dili sa gyud namu sila i-uli,” Lucero said.

“Dili nato i-uli basta wa pa gyuy sigurado nga adunay moatiman nila ug tarong. Sa pagkakaron, padayon gihapon ang atong pag-atiman nila, naa sila karun sa atong temporary shelter and ato pod nga gi-assess ang ilang education,” she added.

Lucero stressed that the children may be allowed to go back to school but only when they are ready psychologically. As of now, the victims are under the Alternative Learning System of DSWD.

Lucero said the parents of the 13-year-old girl are now behind bars following the conducted by the Anti-Trafficking Division of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Manila, Homeland Security and other law enforcement agencies last May.

Meanwhile, the three children ages 11, nine and two rescued last Wednesday are also staying in the temporary shelter of DSWD. They are reportedly cooperative in the interviews.

“On-going pa ang atong interview nila while naa sila sa atoa kung unsa ilang gibati, paminaw ug huna huna. Cooperative ra man hinuon sila,” Lucero said.

“Once ma-process na ang tanang interviews and next step natong buhaton mau ang pagbutang nila kung asa nga center sila haum mabutang, as long as licensed sa DSWD,” she added.  (FREEMAN)
