Road accidents kill two in Naga and in Tuburan
CEBU, Philippines - Two people died and another was injured in separate vehicular accidents in the City of Naga and in Tuburan town.
Paul Martin Taladro, 19, of Barangay Montañeza, Malabuyoc died of severe head injury at the emergency room of South General Hospital three hours after he was hit by a speeding delivery truck at the national highway in Barangay Tuyan, City of Naga at 5 p.m. last Tuesday.
Truck driver Dexter Taganahan, 28, of Plaridel, Misamiz Occidental is now detained at the Naga police station. He is employed with Red System Company Incorporated based in Manila.
Initial investigation disclosed that the truck was heading towards Cebu City from Argao town when Taladro suddenly crossed the highway.
PO1 Diosdado Namang, desk officer, said the truck was allegedly over speeding and Taganahan did not notice the victim crossing.
In another incident, Stephen Jose Hoban, 17, of Barangay Kalangahan, Tuburan town also died of vehicular accident last Sunday. He was driving his motorcycle on the national highway in Barangay Sandayong, Tuburan at 7 p.m. when he lost control of it. His back rider, Dionisio Andrade Cose, was injured in the crash.
Both Hoban and Cose were allegedly under the influence of liquor when they met the accident.
Police found out that Hoban did not have a driver’s license and other pertaining documents as well as the motorcycle did not have a plate number. — (FREEMAN)
