Cebu City police launch Junior Police
CEBU, Philippines - The Cebu City Police Office launched the Junior Police yesterday as part of the Philippine National Police’s objectives to educate criminology students in different aspects of law enforcement.
The CCPO partnered with the city’s different universities that offer Bachelor of Science in Criminology through the signing of memorandum of understanding (MOU).
The partnership was in line with the 19th National Crime Prevention Week celebration, which officially kicked off yesterday.
It aims to raise awareness on the importance of crime prevention to achieve peace and order in the country and confirm the united stand of the government and the private sector in the fight against criminality.
Cebu City Police Office director, Sr. Supt. Noli Romana, said he wanted to mobilize the community by enhancing consciousness among the youth as part of police’s social responsibility.
The CCPO Junior Police is organized to foster quality and excellence in education through on-the-job training of the criminology students.
In line with the activity, the Police Regional Office-7 awarded seven policemen and a civilian for their exemplary contribution to the society.
Awarded with PNP Medal of Merit were Barili Police Station chief Arvi Arbuis, PO3 Acelino Ricaplaza, PO2 Pablito Caadlawon, PO2 Jesie Lloyd Sebial and PO1Ronnie Guzman, who responded to an armed person alarm in Barangay Poblacion last month.
The incident left the gunman dead and Arbuis and Caadlawon injured.
A Plaque of Recognition was given to SPO2 Egmedio Felisan Jr. for being the regional champion in the nationwide search for the 2013 Model PNP Family under the family category.
The same award was also given to PO2 Celesty Español, who was the regional champion in the search for the 2013 Model PNP Family under the solo parent category.
A Plaque of Appreciation was awarded to Prudencio Jay Gesta, of the Cebu Chamber of Commerce, for accepting the chairmanship of the Regional Search Committee for Model PNP Families in Central Visayas. (FREEMAN)
